Description
If you want your students to write amazing poems, a clear understanding of figurative language and plenty of practice can really help. Use the figurative language worksheets (with google slide option) to help your students master seven common types of figurative language: simile, metaphor, idioms, hyperbole, personification, onomatopoeia, and alliteration. Includes definitions, examples, and plenty of practice.
Then use the poetry printable (also with google slide option) to write 21 different kinds of poems. Each introduction printable includes a description of the poem, the poetry pattern, an example, and opportunities for guided practice. Most of these also include a second page/slide for more practice with the poetry form. Two pages of teacher tips and ideas for teaching poetry are also included.
